Rangel International Affairs Fellowship. The national scholarship is a U.S. Department of State program that prepares young Americans for careers in the U.S. Foreign Service. It funds a two-year master\u2019s degree program in international affairs and provides placement in 10-week internships on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. and a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a winner of the Rangel Fellowship, Nixon commits to working in the federal government for five years once she completes her studies. \u201cAfter my time with Foreign Services, I hope to continue my post at the Department of State,\u201d Nixon said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While a student at Georgia Southern, the political science major was an active member of the Honors Program. \u201cI love the people I met at Georgia Southern. I created a community of support, empowerment and family at Georgia Southern University, and I really miss that closeness.
