University President Brooks Keel and First Lady Tammie Schalue will host this year\u2019s Gala on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at the University\u2019s Performing Arts Center and Nessmith-Lane Conference Center Ballroom.<\/p>\n<p>The black-tie event for 1906 Society members will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a reception featuring cocktails and heavy hors d\u2019oeuvres in the Nessmith-Lane Ballroom. At 8 p.m., Forever Motown will take the stage in the adjoining Performing Arts Center.<\/p>\n<p>As their name suggests, Forever Motown transports audiences back in time to when the classic \u201cMotown Sound\u201d ruled the radio. Audiences will know every song and will delight in hearing old favorites made famous by artists like Diana Ross and the Supremes, The Temptations and many more.<\/p>\n<p>While this premier event is only open to 1906 Society members, there is still time to join the 1906 Society and attend the invitation-only gala. Those who join the 1906 Society before October 15 will receive an invitation to this year\u2019s Gala. Membership in the 1906 Society is extended to contributors who make annual gifts of $1,200 or more to support the Georgia Southern University Foundation. When cumulative gift totals reach $12,000, donors become lifetime members of the 1906 Society.<\/p>\n<p>Prospective 1906 Society members can contact Alex Grovenstein at 912-478-GIVE (4483).
