2011 Staff Award of Merit Winners Announced
Eight Georgia Southern University employees were awarded for outstanding contributions to the University during the 2011 Staff Awards of Excellence Ceremony. Georgia Southern honored its staff with 5-30 years of service. The honorees have a combined 1,900+ years of service. The Staff Service and Awards of Excellence Ceremony recognizes and acknowledges staff employees for their years of service to Georgia Southern University. Also each year Classified and/or Administrative Professional employees are selected from campus nominations to receive the Award of Merit, which is based upon their commitment to go above and beyond to provide excellent customer service to our campus.
This year eight staff members have been selected as Award of Excellence Recipients, and they will be presented with a medallion and a monetary award of $1,000. Two of the Awards for Excellence were provided by TIAA CREFF and Fidelity Investments.
The following staff members recieved Merit Awards from the Staff Council:

3. Patricia Byrd, Writing & Linguistics
4. Antonio Frison, Physical Plant
5. Caroline James, Registrar Office
6. William Johnson, ETS
7. Gloria Joiner, Print Shop (she has been selected to receive the Fidelity Award)
8. Lisa Williams, COBA (She has been selected to receive the TIAA-CREFF Excellence Award)
