Successful Business Alumnus Speaks On Entrepreneurship
The Center for Entrepreneurial Learning and Leadership is sponsoring the William A. Freeman Memorial Lecture Series featuring alumnus Bill Pittman, who began a small software business in his bonus room in Savannah, raised venture capital and sold the company during the dot-com boom.
The lecture, “Become
an Entrepreneur: Anyone can do it!” is
Monday, April 9 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Nessmith-Lane
Conference Center Assembly Hall.
Pittman is vice president
of product development for Total Merchant Services, Inc. where he oversees and
implements new products and manages product development policies, objectives
and initiatives in Calabasas, Calif. Prior to joining Total Merchant Services,
Pittman served as senior manager of product management and global payments services
for Amazon.
A 1997 graduate of Georgia
Southern University’s Master of Business Administration program, Pittman is a
successful entrepreneur having started up and sold two payment software
companies. His first Savannah-based company, GO Software, developed PCCharge,
which became the industry’s leading PC payment processing software product.
PCCharge is now sold by VeriFone, Systems Inc. and TPI Software, LLC of Redmond,
Wash. In addition, he developed SmartPayments Server, a payment gateway product
that was sold to Hypercom Corp.
The event is free and open to faculty, staff and students.
