Planetarium Offers Two Free Shows July 27

The newly renovated Georgia Southern University Planetarium is hosting a free, Back-to-School Celebration on Friday, July 27, featuring two public shows in the full dome.

One World, One Sky - Big Bird's Adventure, is for Pre-K – first grade and young at heart audiences. Participants will have four opportunities to view the show:

  • 10 a.m.
  • 10:30 a.m.
  • 6 p.m.
  • 6:30 p.m. 

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Strollers are not permitted due to fire code safety.

Lamps of Atlantis is for a general audience and will be featured at 11 a.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Telescopic observing outdoors will follow the evening presentations, weather permitting.

Sponsored by the Department of Physics in the College of Science and Mathematics, the event is free and faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend.

“We'll be collecting canned and non-perishable food for the Statesboro Food Bank. Thank you so very much for your donations to help those in need in our community. Hope to see you soon under the stars,” says Becky Lowder, Astronomy Laboratory Coordinator.
