The Georgia Southern Chorale is traveling to Linz, Austria, to participate in the International Anton Bruckner Choir Competition from May 29 – June 2. Following the competition, the Chorale will tour Italy and perform during High Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City on Saturday, June 8. Of the 19 choirs competing, Georgia Southern is the only American group. “This trip will be critical to the music department for recruiting, marketing and fundraising,” says Shannon Jeffreys, D.M.A., director of choral activities. “We are excited to be able to give the choir members experience in an international competition." Southern Chorale and Fermata the Blue will present "The Journey Begins," a concert previewing their repertoire for the competition on Thursday, May 23, at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 4401 Country Club Road. Admission is free, however donations in support of the choir's travel will be accepted.Posted in My News
