Statesboro Regional Sexual Assault Center Hosts Annual Event Saturday
The Statesboro Regional Sexual Assault Center (SRSAC) will host Caribbean Night, an annual fundraiser benefiting the organization which serves Georgia Southern University, on Saturday, May 18 from 6 - 10 p.m. in the Marriott Spring Hill Suites Conference Center.
SRSAC provides emotional support and advocacy for individuals who have been sexually assaulted, including a 24/7 sexual assault crisis line. SRSAC is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, designated by the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit and law enforcement agencies to serve Bulloch, Jenkins and Screven Counties, including Georgia Southern University. SRSAC is part of the Statesboro area's Sexual Assault Response Team including law enforcement, the prosecutor, the advocate, the Georgia Southern University Sexual Assault Response Team (GSU SART), and the Sexual Assault Forensic Nurse Examiners (SANEs). In addition, education, awareness and prevention services are provided to Statesboro and surrounding communities.
Event proceeds will be used to provide services for child victims of sexual assault and related sexual violence through the purchase of a new colposcope with digital imaging technology to support the SANE medical exams/evidence collection, and to expand the SRSAC facilities, equipment and staffing.
Dinner will be provided by Eagle Dining Services. Live music will be performed by members of Adrenaline & Academy of Performing Arts Show Choirs. Also at the event, $1 raffle tickets will be available for purchase to win prizes such as weekend getaways, a High Definition TV and more!
