Attention Garden Enthusiasts: Join the Division of Continuing Education at Park Seed

Gardening season is in full bloom, and if your idea of a relaxing day is spending time among the Marigolds, you may want to consider joining the Division of Continuing Education to attend Flower Day, an annual open house event at Park Seed. Open to faculty, staff, students and members of the community, the trip costs $69 which includes transportation and tour fees. Located in Greenwood, S.C. and founded in 1868 by George W. Park, Park Seed is one of the country’s oldest and largest mail-order seed and plant organizations. A final stop on the Department of Continuing Education’s 2013 Garden Tour Series, participants will be taken on guided tours, hear from professional horticulturists on gardening topics and see over 1,500 new varieties of annuals, perennials, vegetables, trees and shrubs being tested in the famous trial gardens. “Anyone who is interested in gardening will enjoy this event. You’ll be able to see plants that haven’t even been put on the market yet, including things that are not available in stores like Wal-Mart and Lowe’s. It’s an opportunity to learn a lot,” said Ann Scott-Price, assistant conference coordinator for the Division of Continuing Education. Food, drinks and ice cream are available on-site.
