Department of Communication Arts Begins Summer Theatre
The Department of Communication Arts kicks off its summer theatre program tonight, Thursday, June 13, with William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, "As You Like It."
Chosen and directed by James Harbour, associate professor of Theatre, the cast consists of 14 students enrolled in Term A summer school taking a rehearsal and performance class. The actors will play around 20 different roles.
"As You Like It" follows its heroine Rosalind as she flees persecution in her uncle's court. While accompanied by her cousin Celia and Touchstone the court jester, Celia finds safety and love in the Forest of Arden.
The comedy runs Thursday, June 13 - Saturday, June 15 at the Black Box Theater located in the Centre for Art & Theatre. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, however donations are accepted. Proceeds benefit scholarship funds for the Theater Program.
