Volunteers Needed for Fall Commencement Ceremony
Volunteers Needed for Fall Commencement Ceremony
Every spring and fall semester, Georgia Southern University celebrates the height of academic achievement with commencement ceremonies that wouldn’t be possible without the help of faculty and staff volunteers.
Your assistance is needed for the upcoming ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 13.
Commencement hosts greet guests, answer questions,
distribute commencement programs and direct guests to seating. Volunteers
also direct guests to areas designated for people with disabilities. Guidelines
are provided for each assigned task.
Faculty and staff can volunteer for one or more ceremonies. Help is especially needed for the 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. graduation services. The three ceremonies will be held at Hanner Fieldhouse at the following times:
9 a.m. Ceremony 1
(7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.)
College of Science and Mathematics
College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences
11 a.m. Ceremony 2
(9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.)
Center for International Studies
College of Business Administration
College of Engineering & Information Technology
1 p.m. Ceremony 3
(11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.)
Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health
College of Education
College of Health and Human Sciences
If you’d like to volunteer, email Terri Saylor, senior administrative secretary in the Office of the Registrar, at tsaylor@georgiasouthern.edu and indicate the ceremony or ceremonies you’re available, including your campus P.O. Box number.
“Your assistance is greatly needed and we will appreciate your support of this very important event in the lives of our students and their families,” says Velma Burden, registrar.
