Gain Skills to Start Your Own Business at 3DS
The College of Business Administration and the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Information Technology have teamed up to bring the 3 Day Startup (3DS) Program–an entrepreneurship education program designed for university students with an emphasis on learning by doing–to Georgia Southern University for the first time this February.
3DS teaches entrepreneurial skills to university students in an extreme hands-on environment. This proven program provides students the tools they need to start successful companies. More than 2500+ 3DS alumni who participated in 55 events across four continents–including programs at Harvard, MIT and the University of Texas– have started more than 39 companies that have collectively raised $9.5 million in investor capital.
Dr. Dominique Halaby, director of the Bureau of Business Research and Economic Development, brought the program to Georgia Southern and is excited to expose students to invaluable business experience.
“The event itself is just fun. It’s a great way to find out what it takes to get something going from the ground up. I think our students have great ideas and if they’re interested in starting their own business, this is a great way to get the experience many other students they’ll be competing with in the marketplace have and are already engaged in,” he said.
The event will take place Friday, Feb. 14 – Sunday, Feb. 16 and 40 applicants with various backgrounds will be chosen to participate. Get the full schedule of events and apply online by visiting georgiasouthern.3daystartup.org.
“The big thing is, we need to elevate the bar on what it means to have an entrepreneurial environment and innovative ecosystem giving our students in Statesboro the same opportunities as students at Harvard to make them just as competitive in the job market,” said Halaby.
The application deadline is this Friday, Jan. 24.
