Herty Obtains Quality Management Recertification

Georgia Southern University’s Herty Advanced Materials Development Center has been independently audited and recertified to fulfill the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 standard. This registration applies to Herty’s quality system involved in the manufacture and testing of client products. “Herty is one of a few applied research centers in the United States that is certified under the ISO 9001 quality management framework,” said Alexander Koukoulas, Ph.D., president and CEO of Herty. Herty first obtained its certification in October 2008 and recently completed a tri-annual recertification audit in February 2014. More than one million companies across the world choose to obtain ISO 9001 certification through independent assessment. Conducted by UL DQS, Inc., the audit found that Herty’s quality objectives and customer satisfaction was “outstanding.” It also reported that Herty’s knowledge and pride of all its associates was a particular strength of the organization. Further, it stated that Herty maintains a “mature and well-defined” quality management system. Koukoulas went on to say, they are very proud to have successfully completed the recertification process and look forward to continuing to provide the highest quality products and services to their clients and technology development partners.
