You Can Donate to the State Charitable Contributions Program

SCCP Now through Oct. 31, faculty and staff members have an opportunity to participate in “Looking Forward, Giving Back,” the official charitable campaign for employees of state agencies and the University System of Georgia, sponsored by the Georgia State Charitable Contributions Program (SCCP). The program provides a convenient, secure way to make a donation to the participant’s charity of choice by payroll deduction, check or credit card. With over 1,300 charities to choose from, employees are encouraged to find a cause that speaks to them.  Some Bulloch County charities through the United Way of Southeast Georgia include the American Red Cross, the Boys & Girls Club of Bulloch County, Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, the Food Bank and many others. “Giving to such worthy causes makes our community a better place to live,” says Ale Kennedy, Ph.D., local campaign coordinator and interim associate vice president for Human Resources. “Raising the standard of living and making services available for those in need, in turn raises the standards for us all.” Here a few examples of how your donation can help right here in Bulloch County: $5 a month will:
  • Give a senior citizen the opportunity to have a balanced and nutritious meal each day for one week.
  • Will provide all materials needed for a student enrolled in a drug education and intervention class.
$10 a month will:
  • Replace a person’s clothing that has been lost due to a fire or natural disaster.
  • Help buy critically needed, discounted medicine for one month.
  • Purchase all the materials needed to help five adults learn to read.
$15 a month will:
  • Ensure that a family has electricity and heat during the winter months.
  • Help prevent the eviction of a family in need from their apartment.
$20 a month will:
  • Help buy over 1000 pounds of food in bulk that can then be distributed to families in need.
  • Sponsor a child for one year in a quality after school program, where they receive daily homework and tutorial services, participate in character development programs, are exposed to the arts through drama, music and crafts, and learn valuable skills through participating in career development programs.
