Panelists to Discuss Sustainability Around the World

A well-traveled and diverse panel of experts will discuss sustainability challenges and advances around the world on Tuesday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. in Russell Union Ballroom A.
Lissa Leege, Ph.D., director of the Center for Sustainability, conceived the idea of the panel while leading a Global Sustainability study abroad course in Italy in summer 2014.
“We see so many different approaches to sustainability in different cultures. We have much to learn from each other around the world,” Leege said.
Panelists include graduate assistant Christina Beslin, who will discuss her recent study abroad experience in Ghana; Subhrajit Saha, Ph.D., an agroecologist and expert on sustainability in India and the Indian subcontinent; David W. Seaman, Ph.D., a French professor and frequent traveler to France; and Cathy Skidmore-Hess, Ph.D., a historian who conducts environmental history research and leads study abroad courses in Botswana and South Africa. The panel will be moderated by Jacek Lubecki, Ph.D., assistant vice president of the Center for International Studies.
“The panel brings together the cause of sustainability promotion and education and internationalization / international education on our campus,” said Lubecki.
The event is hosted by the Centers for Sustainability and International Studies and is free and open to the public. Attendance verification will be provided for those who need it. Student Sustainability Fees at Work.
