Health Services Offers Flu Vaccinations on Campus this Fall

The annual Flu Vaccination Clinics are back this fall to give Eagles the chance to prevent the flu from contaminating campus.
“The new recommendation now is that every person over the age of six months gets a flu vaccine every single year,” said Dr. Brian DeLoach, medical director and staff physician at the Georgia Southern University Health Services Center. “The minor discomfort from getting a shot is significantly less than what you’ll experience if you get the flu. I highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity.”
The annual clinics offer Georgia Southern and East Georgia students, faculty, staff and retirees a convenient, cost-effective way to prevent the spread of the flu. Patients must bring an Eagle Card to receive a vaccination at the clinic. Each vaccine is $10 and can be paid with cash or check.
Three other clinics are scheduled through January 2016. The other dates and locations are: Oct. 28, Nessmith-Lane lobby; Nov. 4, Recreation Activity Center; and Jan. 27, Russell Union, room 2084.
In addition to the scheduled clinics, patients may stop by Health Services Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4:30 p.m. for walk-in vaccinations. No appointment is needed. Student patients may opt to file insurance for the vaccination at walk-in sessions.
