ALAS is a Latino-based organization founded with the idea of spreading diversity throughout campus. Their goal is to equip future leaders with the tools and information they need to be ambassadors for diversity, not only locally, but across the nation as well. “I get to openly talk about my experience as a Latina in a safe and inclusive environment where it’s okay to be different,” said member Lizaida Pérez Collazo. “ALAS really celebrates our differences.” The organization is open to everyone with an open mind and respect for cultural differences. ALAS strives to educate students about the unique Latino culture and embrace those of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. To join ALAS, students can login to MyGeorgiaSouthern.edu, access “MyInvolvement” and search for ALAS.
