The delegation, made up of 11 GS students and their faculty advisor, Jacek Lubecki, Ph.D., represented the United Arab Emirates in the competition. Tony Hudson, senior international studies major and president of the delegation, served as the chair for the Political Committee. The other 10 delegates served in the five remaining categories- Joint Defense Council, Council on Palestinian Affairs, Council on Political Affairs, Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers and Council of Arab Environmental Affairs Ministers. Hudson received the Best Chair Award for his work with the Political Committee. Angelica Perry, junior modern languages major, and Hakim Finlaytor, junior international studies major, each earned the outstanding Delegation Award for their work in the Political Committee as well. “As the faculty advisor, I feel so proud of our students who worked extremely hard and won awards in competition with teams that prepared for years and years, whereas most of our students were relatively inexperienced,” said Lubecki. “We have the best students.” For more information on Model Arab League, visit http://ncusar.org/modelarableague/.
