Student featured in Engineering Georgia Magazine

engineering-georgia-magazine-cover-pageJoshua Vinson, senior civil engineering student in the College of Engineering and Information Technology, was featured in the Sept./Oct. 2016 issue of Engineering Georgia magazine in an article called “Positioning Your Firm to Appeal to Millennials,” as well as on the cover. “Positioning Your Firm to Appeal to Millennials” informs future employers of what Vinson and fellow engineering students look for in a company, such as mentorship, career advancement, benefits, community involvement, newest technology and flexible work hours. “I am grateful for the opportunity to be featured on the cover page and in an article of Engineering Georgia magazine along with my fellow engineering peers from Georgia Tech, University of Georgia and Kennesaw State University,” said Vinson. “I strive daily to achieve my personal, academic and career goals.” Sasha Ugi, director of Communications and Marketing at the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia, contacted the University’s Civil Engineering and Construction Management Department asking for students’ biographies, contact information and headshots. Vinson was selected as the student to represent Georgia Southern not only due to his studies, but also for his experience working with Geotechnical and Environmental Consultants Inc. in Macon, Georgia, his position as a community leader in University housing and his study abroad experience at Zhengzhou University in China in 2013. “The positive learning environment at Georgia Southern is a major contributor to my success that includes faculty and staff members, students and the Statesboro community,” added Vinson.
