Choose Southern for Summer
March 15, 2017
Students anywhere can take advantage of the opportunities offered through summer school at Georgia Southern to help them graduate on time. By choosing Southern for summer, students may participate in fully online courses, utilize campus housing at University Villas, explore more than 100 on-campus job opportunities, and enjoy shorter semesters and study abroad adventures. In addition to the nearly 300 online courses, the University is offering a total of 1,600 summer classes to ensure students stay on track this May, June and July.
Shorter semesters and smaller classes help students get ahead or catch up by providing full credit for 15-week courses condensed into four weeks. Study abroad opportunities for students provide both core and major classes in countries including Costa Rica, China, Ghana, Italy, Romania and Spain, among others.
Current Georgia Southern students who are in good-standing, transient students and newly admitted students can enroll in summer sessions. Newly admitted students should contact the University’s Office of Admissions to verify eligibility. Undergraduate students can take no more than seven hours per term and no more than 12 hours total for the summer. Graduate students should check with their advisor to determine how many hours they can take over the summer.
Registration is underway for courses. In addition to online courses, the University offers courses during three separate accelerated summer terms including:
Term A: May 15 – June 15
Term B: June 19 – July 19
Long Term: May 15 – July 11
Full Semester Georgia ONmyLine (May 9 - July 10)
There are several ways to find assistance in paying for summer school, including grants, loans and 100 job on-campus job openings for students taking classes this summer.
Summer financial aid awarding will begin in March and will continue through the Summer term.
