27th annual Holiday Helper Tree officially open

The virtual Holiday Helper Tree begins Nov. 9. Tags can be pulled virtually and gifts must be shipped by Dec. 4 to the agency. Visit GeorgiaSouthern.edu/leadserve

The Holiday Helper Tree, an annual tradition on the Georgia Southern Statesboro Campus, has returned for the 27th year to encourage Eagle Nation to help others in need this holiday season.

Instead of pulling tags from a tree in the Russell Union like in years past, the 2020 Holiday Helper Tree is virtual and allows participants to pull a tag from anywhere. Gifts this year will be shipped directly to the agency the gift is benefiting.

The virtual tree officially opened on Nov. 9 with 612 tags representing individuals in need at 15 organizations in the Statesboro community. Gifts must be shipped by Dec. 4.

To pull a tag virtually, participants can visit the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement website here and log in with their Georgia Southern login credentials. Community members wishing to participate can contact Leader@GeorgiaSouthern.edu or 912-478-1435 for information.
