COVID-19 vaccinations have begun in Georgia, free testing still available in our areas

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) understands the development of a successful COVID-19 vaccination program requires a strong partnership between federal, state, and local clinical and nonclinical partners. Through these established partnerships and following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), DPH is working to ensure Georgia is prepared and ready to actively respond once vaccines become available. Georgia Southern is taking steps to assist with vaccine deployment; we will share more information as those steps are finalized. Read about Georgia’s COVID-19 vaccine plan and see the Georgia DPH COVID-19 Vaccine Status Dashboard at https://dph.georgia.gov/covid-vaccine/.

Vaccine scheduling for new requests in Chatham and Liberty counties is temporarily paused. For up-to-date COVID-19 information in these counties, visit https://covid19.gachd.org/. In Bulloch County, the Georgia Department of Public Health Southeast Health District continues to ask anyone interested in a vaccine to verify eligibility and schedule an appointment by calling 1-855-473-4374. An appointment is required to receive your vaccine at one of their mass vaccination sites. Find out more at https://www.sehdph.org/interested-in-receiving-your-covid-19-vaccine/.

The DPH has contracted with Mako Medical to provide testing services in our area to free up health department staff and resources to focus on COVID-19 vaccinations. To register for Mako Medical COVID-19 testing in Bulloch and Chatham county locations, please visit https://mako.exchange/splash/GAmakotesting/.

The Southeast Health District will continue to offer free COVID-19 testing in other areas. To schedule an appointment at one of these COVID-19 testing sites, call 1-855-473-4374 or visit covid19.dph.ga.gov for all other public health testing locations.

Because of your vigilance, the fall semester showed the effectiveness of the precautions and planning we undertook to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on our campuses. Thank you for your care and partnership last semester – now, we must continue these efforts for the Spring 2021 semester. These guidelines for employees are archived online at https://www.georgiasouthern.edu/covid-19-information/campus-health-faculty-staff/.
