TRIO Student Support Services donates supplies to local organizations

With the help of the University community, TRIO Student Support Services at Georgia Southern University was able to donate supplies to local organizations in celebration of National TRIO Day.
The Armstrong and Liberty campuses collected items to donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire, while the Statesboro Campus donated items to donate to the Boys and Girls Club of Bulloch County. Altogether, ten boxes of supplies were donated, five to each organization.
“We are so grateful to the Eagle Nation for their participation in this donation drive in celebration of National TRIO Day,” said Corine Ackerson-Jones, director of TRIO Student Support Services on the Armstrong Campus. “Thank you to everyone who donated. These items will positively impact these important community organizations, and we are proud to support their efforts. This project proved to be an awesome alternative to our usual community service efforts”

Leslie Harris, director of TRIO Student Support Services on the Statesboro Campus, agreed.
“Our department is very grateful for the support from our awesome Georgia Southern community,” Harris said. “This support has allowed us to provide children in need the opportunity to continue to participate in programs, such as the Boys and Girls Club, safely and with the required materials. This program has a special place in my heart because I benefited from their services as a child. Thanks again to everyone for your support in our charity drive.’
National TRIO Day is a day to commemorate the annual achievements of the Federal TRIO programs in communities across the country.
