Shahad Smith named Mr. Georgia Southern University 2021

Shahad Smith was named Mr. Georgia Southern University 2021 during the 15th annual scholarship competition held on April 8 at the Performing Arts Center on the Statesboro Campus.
Smith, a Brunswick, Georgia, native, is a senior who is majoring in criminal justice and is involved in numerous campus organizations. He serves as the community service chair for Collegiate 100, the chaplain for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the social actions chair for Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. Additionally, he is a member of MOVE: Men of Vision and Excellence and the Diversity Peer Educators.
As the winner, Smith received a $1,000 scholarship and various prizes from this year’s sponsors, the University Store, Southern Exchange and Tech Corner. Christopher Castro won 1st Runner Up and Kenterious Goolsby won 2nd Runner Up.
In addition to the title of Mr. Georgia Southern, Smith also received the award for Best Spirit Wear. Castro won the Best Formal Wear and Best Talent awards, while Goolsby tied with contestant Tray Milton for the Best Lifestyle and Fitness Award. Milton won the People’s Choice Award, which was voted online via social media.
The Mr. Georgia Southern University scholarship competition is hosted annually by the University Programming Board.
