Theresa Novotny, Ed.D., elected to national governing council

Theresa Beebe Novotny, Ed.D., coordinator of Testing Services in the Academic Success Center on the Statesboro Campus, was elected to the National College Testing Association (NCTA) Governing Council and will serve a three-year term from August 2023 to August 2026.
"It is an honor to be elected to the Governing Council and represent testing professionals throughout the country to assist in the advancement of the field,” Novotny said. “NCTA has been an active part of my professional development in learning about the best practices in both in-person, virtual and hybrid testing environments."
Previously, Novotny served as the NCTA Awards and Recognition Committee chair. She also led the organization’s book study, presented at the national conference numerous times and was a Nomination Committee member for three years.
As a member of the Governing Council, she will oversee professional development, which is responsible for the coordination of the national conference, webinars and book study.
NCTA will host the 2024 national conference in Savannah, Georgia, with an estimated 400 testing professionals attending the conference.
The Office of Testing Services in Statesboro has been awarded the NCTA Test Center Certification for meeting the highest standards for college testing centers.
NCTA is dedicated to the promotion of professionalism and quality in the administration of testing services and programs, including issues relating to test administration, test accessibility, test development, test scoring, and assessment. NCTA currently has more than 2,300 members, representing over 600 post-secondary institutions and more than 60 corporations and certification agencies in the United States, Canada, and around the globe. The organization maintains a comprehensive set of standards for testing centers administering paper-pencil and computer-based examinations, as well as a compilation of useful operational guidelines.
