Office of Advising accepting nominations for 2024 Outstanding Advisors

The Georgia Southern Advisement community is responsible for helping more than 25,000 undergraduate students successfully progress through their programs of study. The Office of Advising is extremely proud of its advisors, and believes advisors are critical to the success of Georgia Southern’s students and campus.

To recognize the efforts of its Academic Advisors, the Office of Advising is currently accepting nominations for Outstanding Advisors at Georgia Southern. The University-wide winners of the Outstanding Advisor awards will represent Georgia Southern at the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) national conference. Here's an overview of the three categories below.

New Advisor: presented to individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students and who have served as a professional advisor or a faculty member with advising duties for a period of three or fewer years.

Advisor in Primary Role: Individuals whose primary role at the institution is the direct delivery of advising services to students. Nominees must spend at least 50% of their time on direct delivery of advising to students and have at least three calendar years of experience in this capacity.

Administrator: Individuals who may provide direct academic advising services but whose primary responsibility is as an administrator or director of an academic advising program. Nominees must have a minimum of three calendar years in advising administration with at least 50% of their duties dedicated to advising administration.

Please use this nomination form to let us know of a Georgia Southern advisor (or advising administrator) who has had a positive influence on students and the campus community.

The nomination period will end on Jan. 25.
