Student Wellness & Health Promotion receives 2024 Campus Prevention Network Seal of Prevention
The Office of Student Wellness & Health Promotion at Georgia Southern University has been awarded the Campus Prevention Network (CPN) Seal of Prevention. The CPN Seal of Prevention represents the highest standard for online prevention education and recognizes institutions making a measurable impact across critical areas including sexual assault prevention, alcohol and drug misuse, mental health and inclusion.
"We are particularly proud of this designation as the recognition acknowledges the important prevention work happening on campus in the digital space, particularly engagement for all Georgia Southern students including distance and adult learners," said Gemma Skuraton, DrPH, director of Student Wellness & Health Promotion.
Every year, the Vector Solutions research team assesses the quality of higher education institutions’ and organizations’ digital programming measured by rigorous criteria based on the Principles of Effective Prevention Programs published by Nation, et al. (2003).
The CPN Seal of Prevention is awarded to institutions or organizations that demonstrate a commitment to using evidence-based prevention strategies in their programming, particularly focused on areas like student safety, well-being and community building, often through digital platforms.
