Georgia Southern to test the EAGLE ALERT Emergency Communication System on Friday, Nov. 21
Georgia Southern University is scheduled to test all components of the EAGLE ALERT system on Friday, Nov. 21, at approximately 2 p.m. The EAGLE ALERT system is the University’s emergency communication system designed to play a key role in keeping students, faculty, staff and visitors safe during emergency or severe weather situations.
On Friday, test emergency alert notifications will be activated on each of the University’s campuses in Statesboro, Savannah and Hinesville. During this test, a message will go out as an EAGLE ALERT. This will include email, phone and text message notifications. A test emergency announcement will appear on the University homepage, the University Alert Center (GeorgiaSouthern.edu/alert), digital signage across the University and the University’s social media accounts. Georgia Southern also will test the emergency hotline phone number – 912-681-5588. In addition, desktop notifications will appear on all University computers.
Prior to the scheduled test, please take time to update your contact information and review the emergency communication channels through which the alert is delivered. For instructions on how to update your contact information, alert preferences and more information about the alert system, visit GeorgiaSouthern.edu/eaglealert.
Faculty and staff may opt in to receive notifications for East Georgia State College through the “Update Eagle Alert Contact Info” link in the myGeorgiaSouthern portal.
Please note that this is only a test of the system and is not an indication that an emergency has taken place on one of the University’s campuses.
