Georgia Southern launching new student engagement platform Eagle Engage

Finding student organizations, logging service hours and creating events will be easier than ever for students, faculty and staff through Eagle Engage, a new student engagement platform that is replacing MyInvolvement beginning Nov. 2.
“Eagle Engage is a much more intelligent and sophisticated system to help grow student engagement and help students, along with the University, tell their story better,” said Ken Gassiot, associate vice president for student engagement.
Faculty and staff can benefit from Eagle Engage, which can be accessed through the MyGeorgiaSouthern portal, by posting their departmental student events, considering other co-curricular student experiences that might be featured in Eagle Engage and encouraging students to use the platform.
Eagle Engage offers students more detailed information about events, so students can make their time at Georgia Southern more unique and fulfilling.
“Student organizations can use Eagle Engage to track organizational records, advertise events, communicate with members or poll their membership,” Associate Vice President for Student Success Melanie Miller said. “Individual students can search for opportunities to become more involved through the ability to search by campus location, virtual or face to face, or based on a skill or competency the student wants to develop.”
Eagle Engage also features a new app that is a quick-reference version of the desktop program. The app, which can be downloaded from the Apple and Google app stores, provides information about events, contactless check-in and the ability to add events to the phone’s calendar.
“This system incorporates an app that has not been available before through MyInvolvement,” Miller said. “Attendance to events will go straight into a co-curricular transcript resulting in a complete digital transcript when they graduate. This can then be attached to the student’s resume or LinkedIn page so that potential employers can see the full picture of their skill set.”
Gassiot said it’s important for students to be able to find and attend campus events easily and conveniently because of the advantages these experiences bring.
“Getting involved in campus events and programs connects students with others who care about the same issues, puts them in a position to advocate for their fellow students, and even challenge themselves in how they think and feel about the world,” Gassiot said.
