Georgia Southern student moot court team wins regional competition

Georgia Southern students Nicholas Scannell and Therin Blass won first place in the South Atlantic Regional of the American Moot Court Association over the weekend.

Their team was one of three from Georgia Southern. There were a total of 26 teams who competed, including teams from the University of Chicago, the Air Force Academy, the College of Wooster and the University of Central Florida, among others.

Georgia Southern students also earned places in the top 20 for individual orator awards, competing against 52 students.

  • Yuan Aung - 4th place
  • Nicholas Scannell - 7th place
  • Therin Blass - 14th place

The winning team will head to the national competition in January.

The Georgia Southern Moot Court Team is mentored by Chris Tecklenburg, J.D., Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Political Science and International Studies, and co-sponsored by Nelson Boyd Attorneys and Oliver Maner LLP.
