Bodur named Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Accreditation for College of Education

Yasar Bodur, Ph.D., has been named the new associate dean for Academic Affairs and Accreditation in the College of Education (COE) at Georgia Southern University.
A dedicated member of the Georgia Southern faculty for 19 years, Bodur has held a variety of leadership roles, including professor of elementary education, director of various COE programs, COE Assessment Coordinator, chair of the Department of Elementary and Special Education, and Interim Associate Dean. He is a current member of the Georgia Professional Service Commission’s (GaPSC) Evaluation Review Panel, site reviewer for GaPSC, annual reviewer for Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and has served as chair for the GaPSC Elementary Education Standards Taskforce. He is also a member of the University System of Georgia’s Educator Preparation Regents Advisory Committee.

“I’m so thrilled to welcome Dr. Bodur as our new associate dean for Academic Affairs and Accreditation,” said Amy Lingo, Ed.D., dean of the College of Education. “Having served as interim associate dean for the past three years, he brings valuable experience and deep institutional knowledge. His longstanding commitment to our students, faculty and programs makes him exceptionally well-suited for this role. I look forward to all that we will accomplish with him in this key position.”

Bodur holds a doctorate and master’s in elementary education from Florida State University and a bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Gazi University. His research focuses on multicultural teacher education, field-based teacher education and reflective practice.

Throughout this tenure, Bodur has received numerous accolades including the Georgia Southern University Excellence in Service Award (2013) and Educator of the Year Award for the College of Education (2011).

“I’ve been a proud member of our College, and I believe in the importance of our work for the society,” said Bodur. “I look forward to working with all members of our team to move our College forward.”
