Georgia Southern coaching education faculty, alumni represented at GACA Leadership Summit

Hal Wilson, Ph.D., coordinator of the coaching education master's program in the Waters College of Health Professions at Georgia Southern University, was one of the featured speakers at the 2025 Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) Leadership Summit, held July 20 in Athens, Georgia.
His presentation, titled “If You Want Buy-In, You Better Be Worth Following,” focused on the power of holistic, athlete-centered leadership. Drawing on character-based coaching principles, Wilson emphasized that building a lasting and positive legacy begins with who a coach is—not just what a coach does.
Alumni from the program were also represented among the honorees and speakers.
Britney Mount (’23) was recognized as the 2025 GACA Female Assistant Coach of the Year. Mount currently serves as the assistant volleyball coach at Central High School in Carrollton, Georgia, and has also served as an assistant coach for the school’s flag football and swim teams.
Kelli Wingate Hutcheson ('89), a member of the Georgia Southern Alumni Board of Directors and president of the Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA), gave a presentation titled "Plan your impact: When your ‘Get To’ creates lasting outcomes."
Curt Miller ('01), athletic director at Oconee County High School in Watkinsville, Georgia, presented "Branding and Marketing Your Program."
