Snacks for SoldiersSnacks need to be donated by – September 30, 2011

In partnership with the Adopt-A-Soldier program, the Georgia Southern community is coming together to collect donations for non-perishable snack foods and cards for regional troops serving overseas. Please consider donating one or many snacks to this cause! Donations can be dropped off to the Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement (Union 2024), the donation box located in the Russell Union Commons, or at the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center (Plant Drive). All snacks collected will be sent to soldiers serving overseas.

All items should be pre-packaged and from the manufacturer (no homemade snacks, please). Individual sizes are best. Please do not donate snack items that contain chocolate or any other ingredient that will melt easily. Some snacks you may consider purchasing include: Individual-sized chips and crackers, rice krispy treats, nuts, fruit snacks, trail mix, energy bars, granola bars, cereal bars, beef jerky/slim jims, gum, dried fruit, hard candy or suckers, pretzels, and fig newtons.

If you would like to make a monetary donation in lieu of snacks, all monies collected will go towards the shipping of the items overseas. Please bring any donations to the Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement (Union 2024) or visit one of the tables located in the Russell Union Commons or Lakeside Cafe. We are also accepting homemade cards with words of encouragement to send along as well. Please visit one of the tables to make a card or bring any cards to the Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement (Union 2024).
