Public Safety to Train for Emergency Situations during Spring Break
Public Safety will host several training sessions from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 13 – 15 during Georgia Southern University’s Spring Break. University Police along with other local law enforcement agencies will practice responding and reacting to a simulated on-campus active shooter. The training will involve realistic scenarios including the use of simulated and blank ammunition firing. All activities will be conducted inside.
Officers will be staging in and around the following buildings: the Newton Building, the College of Education classroom building and Paulson Stadium. The areas being used will be closed off and marked. Please do not be alarmed if you see an increased police presence on campus, especially in the noted locations during these times. If you have any questions, contact University Police at 912-478-5234.
