Alumna Named Dean at University of South Carolina
Jeannette Andrews, a Georgia Southern University alumna, has
been named dean of the University of South Carolina’s College of Nursing. Andrews earned her Master of Nursing Science degree at Georgia Southern and currently serves as the associate dean for research at the Medical University of South Carolina’s College of Nursing. She will assume her new role on January 1, 2013.
A native of Augusta, Ga., Andrews brings 27 years of nursing and leadership experience to the University of South Carolina (USC). She earned an undergraduate degree at the Medical College of Georgia and a doctorate in nursing science at USC.
Andrews is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, Robert Wood Johnson Nurse Executive Fellow, and serves on several national task forces and panels, including the Clinical and Translational Science Awards Community Engagement Key Function Committee, American Academy of Nursing’s Expert Panel on Health Behaviors and scientific review committees for the National Institutes of Health and the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
Her research has focused on ways to help women and veterans stop smoking and improve their health, as well as nurses working in communities with limited access to health care.
