Erica Johnson Earns 2013 Georgia Entomological Society Scholarship
Erica Johnson, a graduate student in the Jack N. Averitt College of Graduate Studies, has earned the 2013 Georgia Entomological Society Scholarship while pursuing her Master of Science degree in biology.
Valued at $500, the Georgia Entomological Society established the scholarship in 1988 for the purpose of furthering entomological science and knowledge by providing financial assistance to outstanding graduate students.
To qualify, Johnson was required to demonstrate her interest in entomology (the study of insects) through a short narrative, submit her curriculum vitae including her grade point average and graduate record exam scores along with two letters of recommendation.
“It is definitely an honor to receive the scholarship and I am excited to be part of a great group of students representing Georgia Southern in the Georgia Entomological Society,” said Johnson.
Johnson also received a commemorative plaque.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of New Mexico in 2010. After earning her master’s degree, Johnson plans to work in an environmental agency or in environmental consulting and eventually pursue her Ph. D.
