The Garden of the Coastal Plain at Georgia Southern University and the University Wellness Program have teamed up with the Statesboro Mainstreet Farmers' Market to bring the best locally grown and produced food to downtown Statesboro.
Every Saturday from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Sea Island Bank parking area at 2 East Main St., the market features everything from meats to produce and dairy products, flour and meal, honey and jams, artisanal pastas and sauces to all sorts of baked goods.
Cash, Credit and Debit cards, as well as EBT are acceptable forms of payment. Can't make it on Saturday? You can support the local farming community online weekly by visiting StatesboroMarket2Go.
In addition, community education exhibits are featured at the
market each week as well as chef demonstrations and entertainment. Other Statesboro Mainstreet Farmers' Market activities June 22 will include:
- Best Corn tasting contest
- Corny Toss
- Coloring contest
- A-Maize-ing Dave the Magician
- Face painting
- Hunter Cattle at the Garden Table Cafe for lunch
- Chef demos
- Discover you CAN preserve corn for January
- Raffle for a bushel of corn and a basket full of market goodies
- HOMEGROWN BAND performing on the main stage
