Volunteers Needed for 2013 Operation Move-In
University Housing is preparing to open its residence halls to over 5,000 incoming students this fall, and your help is needed to welcome them to the Eagle Nation.
A Georgia Southern tradition since 2004, Operation Move-In provides faculty, staff and students an opportunity to volunteer to help new students make a seamless transition as they begin their college career. Volunteers greet family members and friends, help unload suitcases and furniture, provide campus directions and serve as a friendly face to first time and returning visitors.
“The need for volunteers is great. There are several time
slots and positions that need to be filled, but most importantly, a lot of fun
to be experienced! The appreciation of
the students and their families for the help is incredible, and the volunteer
efforts truly embody our ‘large scale, small feel’ motto,” says Chris
MacDonald, executive director of University Housing.
Volunteers receive a free 2013 Operation Move-In T-shirt and an Eagle Dining
Services meal ticket to be enjoyed at one of the newly renovated dining halls.
Volunteers are accepted up until the day of, but advance notice is appreciated
for scheduling and T-shirt preparation.
