IT Services to Perform Critical Upgrade Friday, Systems to Shut Down After 5 p.m.
This Friday, July 19 at 5:30 p.m., IT Services will perform a critical upgrade to a central system that will have a widespread impact on most services and systems on campus. It is essential that everyone be logged out of all systems no later than 5:15 p.m.
Any processes that begin after 5 p.m. will be shut down which may cause data loss.
Because July 19 coincides with the end of Long Term, extended efforts are being made to ensure that the My.GeorgiaSouthern portal, Folio, and other critical systems will not be affected during this outage. However, most services on campus will be unavailable including, but not limited to: Banner, WINGS, Eaglexpress, department / divisional shares, SharePoint and print services.
“As the administrators for all the central systems on campus, we recognize the inconvenience this may cause for many areas. It is with that understanding that we thank you for helping us get started on time so we can finish in a timely manner allowing campus functions to return to normal as quickly as possible,” says Dave Bennett, network services specialist, Information Technology Services.
Additional emails will provide further details as that date draws closer. You can also expect to receive information from your divisional and departmental support representatives that will help you understand how this outage will impact individual departments.
For more information, contact the support representative for your area.
