Georgia Southern to Host Elder Abuse Conference in Savannah
Georgia Southern University’s Division of Continuing Education and Senior Citizens, Inc., are working together to teach people how to detect, prevent and protect the elderly from physical abuse and financial exploitation. They will host the Elder Abuse Conference on Friday, Oct. 11 from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St., Savannah.
Chatham County District Attorney Meg Heap, the first elder abuse prosecutor in the state, Dr. James Bulot, director of the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Aging Services and others will explain and identify the signs of neglect, how to report elder abuse and the prosecution of offenders.
