Joanie Greenlees Named State of Georgia Parking Professional of the Year

Joanie Greenlees, assistant director of Parking & Transportation for Auxiliary Services has been named State of Georgia Parking Professional of the Year by The Parking Association of Georgia (PAG).
"Joanie is one of the individuals that, simply put, gets it. She is self-motivated and an inspiration to her staff. I can leave the office under her leadership and do not have to worry about a single detail. She carries this office on her shoulders and leads by example," said Kristi Bryant, director of Parking & Transportation and Greenlees' nominator.
To be selected, members of PAG must be in good standing, have a professional and reliable reputation, contribute creative solutions or innovations to the parking industry, exhibit high standards of customer service and demonstrate breadth of the parking program and service.
“I was very surprised to learn I won the award. It is an honor to be recognized by the Association,” Greenlees said.
In her current role, Greenlees oversees the day-to-day operations of the Parking & Transportation department. She is responsible for all permit sales, citation payments and managing special event parking including parking reservations, parking permits and bus rentals for campus guests. In addition, she manages departmental records and the content for the department’s website. She oversees the appeals process, gathers information for annual reports and provides financial and inventory reports for the director.
"Joanie is invaluable to the success of our Parking department. She was hired in 1992 and has successfully held every full time position in the department, with the exception of director. She has gone above and beyond in every position that she has held. She takes pride in our mission on campus and strives for excellence in every task she takes on. There is no task that she cannot accomplish. Joanie embodies the spirit, compassion and leadership that the Parking Professional of the Year commands," said Eddie Mills, associate vice president for Auxiliary Services.
A member of The Parking Association of Georgia and the International Parking Institute, Greenlees is a native of Jesup, Ga. and has been a Georgia Southern staff member for 21 years.
