Wildlife WinterFest returns to Georgia Southern

Discover animals from around the world this weekend when Georgia Southern University hosts the fourth annual Wildlife WinterFest on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Center for Wildlife Education and The Lamar Q Ball, Jr. Raptor Center,  1461 Forest Drive.

“This is a great family adventure and a rare opportunity to get up-close with exotic animals from around the world,” said Steve Hein, director of the Center. “We are excited to have Brian Staples and the Staples Safari Zoo back with us for the third consecutive year. He will have a white tiger, panther and a lion along with a lot of monkeys that will be featured in educational and entertaining performances throughout the day.”

Along with the animals in the Staples Safari Zoo and the Center’s birds of prey, including Freedom, being on display, families can enjoy a magic show, a petting zoo, holiday music and Santa Claus. “There is something at Wildlife WinterFest for every family member,” said Hein. “This a special chance for us to reach people and help them connect with nature. We not only teach them about animals and plants in our area but also introduce them to endangered wildlife in other parts of the world and the need for their protection.”

Admission to Wildlife WinterFest is $5 per adult, $3 per child (ages 3-11) and free for children ages two and under. Advance tickets are available at a discounted rate. Visit GeorgiaSouthern.edu/wildlife for more information.
