Office of Student Media Now Recruiting for the Candidate Program

The Office of Student Media is recruiting motivated individuals to join its award-winning organization through the Candidate Program, a 10-week training program that prepares students for a career beyond college. Areas of interest include writing, sales and marketing, and production. Freshmen, sophomores and juniors are eligible to try-out. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 24.

Writers
The Editorial Candidate Program tryout is a two-step process. Students will be given a simple test intended to gauge the level of expertise. Students with no prior experience in journalism are encouraged to apply. Once the test is taken, students will be notified if they made it to step two, which is a one-on-one interview with a staff member from The George-Anne. The George-Anne accepts 20 – 30 candidates each semester. Students interested in writing for The George-Anne should bring a bluebook and a pencil to the audition. Try-outs will be held in the Williams Center, Room 2023 during the following times:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 21: 10 a.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 22: 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., and 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Jan. 23: 10 a.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.
