Department of Music Presents Symphony Tuesday

The Department of Music will host a Symphony Concerto Concert on Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. A concerto is a musical composition usually composed in three parts or movements, in which a solo instrument is accompanied by an orchestra or concert band.

Free and open to the public, the symphony will feature two soloists, Dr. Linda Cionitti performing the Georgia premiere of Peter Schickele's clarinet concerto and music major trombonist, Christian Eric Spencer.  Spencer, a sophomore music major and student of Dr. Richard Mason, is a member of the University's Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Symphony. He will perform the first movement of Gordon Jacob's Trombone Concerto.

The Georgia Southern Symphony includes students who are both music majors and non-majors, both undergraduate and graduate students. Funding for the Symphony is provided by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
