Howard Luna, computer specialist III in the Information Technology Services Department,
has earned the Rebekah Shriver Information Technology Service Award that comes with
a $500 cash prize.
The award recognizes outstanding and exceptional Information
Technology (IT) Services employees who have made worthy contributions through
service to the department and the University. Endowed by faculty member Rebekah
Shriver to recognize exceptional IT services to the University, it is awarded
annually based on nominations and letters of support from the University
community.
“Howard is an excellent example of a professional who admirably exercises his
expert technical skills, interpersonal talents and his passion for the academy.
Howard's colleagues in IT Services are inspired by his commitment to
excellence, dedication and ability to overcome formidable obstacles to ensure
faculty and student success,” says Steven Burrell, vice president for
Information Technology and chief information officer.
Twelve IT professionals were nominated for the award by the
University community. In addition to recognizing Luna, the review and
recommendation committee also noted with distinction the service of Valarie
Kasay and Ken Southwell, who each received $250.
