Criminal Justice and Criminology Professor Appointed to National Governing Board

Sharon Tracy, professor in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences’ Criminal Justice and Criminology Department has been appointed to the National Governing Board and Editorial Board of the National Social Science Association (NSSA).
Selected by Jerry Baydo, executive director of NSSA, along with elected officers, members of the National Governing Board serve as the decision making body of the organization and are among the leading social scientists in the United States.
In this role, Tracy will attend the National Governing Board
yearly meeting and serve on one board committee.
“Sharon has been invited to be a member of the association due to her
outstanding work both within the classroom and outside the classroom,” said
Baydo. “This honor reflects well on her fine work and upon Georgia Southern
University and its administration.”
A University faculty member for 25 years, Tracy earned her Doctor of Public Administration degree with a concentration in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, Calif. She earned her Master of Public Administration in Criminal Law from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill. Tracy serves as an undergraduate instructor of criminal justice on campus and through Georgia Southern’s on-line learning network. In addition, she is an advisor and consultant to area law enforcement and juvenile justice agencies.
NSSA has become one of the largest interdisciplinary educational associations in the U. S., providing in-service training for social scientists nationwide through publications, conferences and seminars.
