Georgia Southern Day at the Statesboro Main Street Farmers’ Market Saturday
April 21, 2014

Downtown Statesboro will be True Blue on Saturday morning as the Statesboro Main Street Farmers’ Market celebrates Georgia Southern Day! You’re invited to wear blue and white and join the fun with University President Brooks Keel and first lady Tammie Schalue, along with a variety of other campus departments at the market on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Sea Island Bank parking area.
Eagle Dining Services’ executive chefs will be on-site performing live cooking demonstrations complete with ingredients from the market for you to taste. While shopping for local and seasonal southeast Georgia produce, you can get your picture taken with our Mascot GUS and the Georgia Southern cheerleaders! Freedom, the bald Eagle, will also be there from the Center for Wildlife Education. Students from the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art will showcase their exhibitions, while the Center for Sustainability, the University Wellness Program and the Zach S. Henderson Library will be in attendance to provide information about many exciting campus programs. In addition, nursing students will be there to provide basic health screenings.
If you can’t make it, be sure to tune in live to Georgia Southern’s student radio station, 91.9 The Buzz as they broadcast live from the event!
“Georgia Southern Day at the market is something everyone looks forward to,” said Debra Chester, Statesboro Main Street Farmers’ Market Chair.
