Students invited to “deCLare Your Leadership”

CommunityLeaders Are you a student leader who is not only looking for employment, but also looking for valuable leadership experience? If so, you may be qualified to join the ranks of Georgia Southern’s 2015-2016 Community Leaders. University Housing is hosting a series of Community Leader information sessions for interested applicants on Feb. 10, Feb. 18, and Feb. 24, each at 7 p.m. in the Kennedy Hall multi-purpose room. Interested students must attend one of these sessions in order to apply. Community Leaders, called “CL’s,” live on campus and are responsible for creating environments in which their fellow residents feel safe and at home. Their primary responsibility is to get to know each individual resident on their hall and ensure their well-being throughout the academic year. Responsibilities also include:
  • Enforcing University Housing and Student Code of Conduct policies
  • Acting as a first responder during emergency situations
  • Acting as a liaison between campus residents and University Housing
  • Assisting the Resident Director with various educational programming initiatives
Candidates who meet or exceed the minimum requirements will participate in two phases of selection. Phase One will consist of an individual and group interview. Phase Two requires selected students to participate in LEAD 3900, a one-hour non-credit leadership class during the fall semester before being hired. University Housing then selects final candidates in late April for the next academic year.
