Georgia Southern Jazz Ensemble Presents First Concert of the Year

The Georgia Southern University Jazz Ensemble will present the first concert of the year on Friday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center (PAC), 847 Plant Drive. The Jazz Ensemble, directed by Rick Mason, D.M.A., will perform music from Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Bill Watrous, Count Basie and Buddy Rich. Additionally, The Jazz Combo will perform a piece by hard-bop, modern jazz composer and trumpeter Roy Hargrove. The concert will also be a time to honor former director Bill Schmid, D.M.A. The associate professor of trumpet will perform as a soloist and will be recognized for his 25-year career.
