Mardi Gras Madness set for March 1

Mardi Gras Madness Flyer FINALThe Residence Hall Association, University Housing and the Office of Alcohol and Other Drugs are teaming up for the sixth annual “Mardi Gras Madness” event on March 1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The entire street of Georgia Avenue will be shut down in order to accommodate the expected 1000 guests. The aim of “Mardi Gras Madness” is to educate students and the community on the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption and to promote safe alcohol practices, especially during spring break. The Residence Hall Association (RHA) set precedent with this event last year when more than 1000 people attended the educational event. More than 15 student and departmental organizations will host booths and activities at the event. Guests can expect low country boil from the Boiling Shrimp and music including live performances. The event will blend two organizational pillars (advocacy and programming) to educate the public on the subject of alcohol abuse with fun, interactive activities.  Activities include inflatable obstacle courses, drive alive simulator and henna tattoos. This event is free and open to the public. Students are encouraged to bring their Eagle ID. About The Residence Hall Association The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is the second largest student organization at Georgia Southern University. The threefold aim of RHA is advocacy, governance, and programming. RHA is an organization advocating for the interests of on-campus students. RHA provides opportunities for personal growth through leadership development and programming initiatives. To learn more about RHA visit www.gsuhousing.com/RHA.
