Biography
Axel Grossmann is the Freeman Chair of Free Enterprise and Professor of Finance at the Parker College of Business at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. He completed his Ph.D. in Finance at the University of Texas Pan-American (now the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, UTRGV) and holds an MBA from the University of Texas Pan-American (UTRGV) and a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences, Giessen-Friedberg, Germany. He joined Georgia Southern University in 2013 after he taught at Radford University and at the University of Texas Pan-American (UTRGV).
Grossmann has over 47 scholarly articles, which are published, among others, in the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of International Financial Markets Institutions and Money, International Review of Economics and Finance, International Review of Financial Analysis, Global Finance Journal, and Journal of Business Research; and his research has been presented at several national and international conferences.
He has received several awards in teaching and research including the Georgia Southern University Student Athlete Professor of the Year Award and the Eagle Excellence Award as Student Organization Advisor of the Year, the Georgia Southern Parker College of Business: Martin NeSmith Excellence in Service Award, W.A. & Emma Lou Crider Award for Excellence in Teaching (twice), the Gary M. Davis Excellence in Research Award, and the William A. Freeman Professor of the Year Award (twice), as well as the Radford University College of Business and Economics Professor of the Year Award.
Currently, Grossmann serves as the faculty advisor of the Finance Association and the Southern Investment Association at Georgia Southern University.
